Wellness Care & Vaccinations
Wellness Care: Protect Your Pets

Preventing disease is the best way to help your pets live longer, healthier lives. Vaccines help to prevent serious infectious diseases. Heartworm preventive medications, given monthly, protect your dog from these life-threatening parasites. Flea and tick control not only protect from annoying pests, but also from diseases they can carry.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of wellness care and preventive medicine. Wellness exams establish baseline information for each pet that allows us to watch trends and recognize potential problems early. For instance, we often find ear infections, skin problems, and orthopedic pain that owners may not have noticed at home. Early detection and care can alleviate pain and restore pets to better health.
Your observations are important to us. At each exam please let us know about your pet’s overall health, thirst, appetite, behavior changes, and mobility.
We highly recommend the following wellness schedule:
Vaccinations
At Hope Veterinary Care we follow core vaccine guidelines established by the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners. In addition, we individualize our vaccine protocol based on your pet’s age, breed, overall health, and exposure to diseases. We review vaccine recommendations with you and send timely reminders for boosters. Please let us know if mail or email reminders are better for you.
Remember that Rabies vaccination is required for all dogs and cats in RI, even indoor cats.
Our commitment to providing the best health for your pet never ends, but it often begins at wellness care visits. Call us to schedule your annual or semiannual exam.
